Union Bay Administrator Leaving

Have been hearing rumors our new administrator is leaving.

Heard it was a surprise to TAG.  Gosh, after all the time and effort they put in grooming a flunky for the leader of TAG.  Must have been quite the blow.  Feeling screwed/deceived?  That's how a good portion of TAG members feel.  Looks good on you.

Never a dull moment in Union Bay.  Never fear, bad news is just around the corner.  Bit by bit, the actions of those assuring their decisions were in the best interest of the community will be exposed.

Landowners in Union Bay are going to pay the price for their willful ignorance.

Good luck - you are going to need it.

Kensington Island Properties Union Bay Coal Hills

Add cleaning up the coal hills by Kensington Island Properties to the list of 'benefits' offered by KIP.  Promises, promises.

Click this link KIP 1 year anniversary Water Filtration Ready to Go..kinda, maybe, we're looking\

Note:  No mention of developer delaying installation of filtration system until sewage in place.  Why did KIP fail to advise Union Bay.  How many times has KIP stated they were ready to go, just waiting for .............something.  Where the hell is this rep?  Why doesn't KIP ever face the community.  Is KIP afraid of answering questions?

Letter from well informed individual.

Will taxpayers foot bill for coal hills cleanup in Union Bay?

Dear editor,

With little fanfare or media coverage,  the BC Ministry of Environment recently released the Remedial Options Feasibility Report for the Union Bay Waste Coal Pile Site in Union Bay.

This “cleanup plan,” years in the making, has the desired outcome of “improvement over time” of the conditions at the Waste Coal Pile Site.
The Waste Coal Pile Site is the result of coal processing/shipping along the shores of Union Bay from 1888 to 1960, and covers an area of approximately 13 hectares and contains around one million cubic metres of material.

Residents of the Comox Valley might find it surprising that the Waste Coal Pile Site in Union Bay,  is also listed as one of the top 13 priority contaminated sites on Crown Land in British Columbia.

While the report discusses various remediation alternatives, the selected remedy appears to be a “cover-only” approach using a bituminous geomembrane (BGM) and vegetative cover. The price tag for this remedy is an estimated $17 million.

This Union Bay Waste Coal Pile cleanup saga should serve as a cautionary tale for those concerned about the proposed Raven Coal Mine near Fanny Bay.
The estimated reject rock pile at the Raven Mine would be over 10 times larger than the Union Bay site, and the potential costs of cleaning up the Raven Mine site would be staggering.

While it’s still not clear who will pick up the tab for the $17-million cleanup bill at Union Bay, the lessons learned from the Mount Washington mine cleanup would indicate the taxpayers of British Columbia might be on the hook once again.

Dear editor,

As a Union Bay resident, I am supportive of KIP's long-range development plans for the community (homes, golf course, marina, etc.). if their plan ever materializes is, perhaps, something else.

However, I would like to express my dissatisfaction with KIP's incomplete clearing of a section of their property along our scenic coastal highway.

For whatever reason, KIP elected to cut down a large number of beautiful trees and then leave large piles of unsightly brush, etc. on the property.

It would be a positive step forward if they would complete the clearing of this property, regardless of the progress, or lack thereof, on the rest of their project.

Heather Mueller,
Union Bay

TAG Calling Supporters To Manipulate Outcome

The political party TAG is reminding their 'members' to support the actions they have planned for the future of the Fire Department.

Email sent out by the owners/leaders of TAG controlling the government of Union Bay.  Note the controlling of these workshops by limiting space, forcing people to reserve ahead of time.  Good way of stacking supporters without getting caught.

If they're hoping for good participation from the community, stating 'please plan to attend',  why is space limited?  Since when do they have a problem with too many people showing up for anything?  This is well thought out planned manipulation.

Subject: Fire Rescue Service Workshops

Hello TAG Supporters:
UBID is holding community workshops to discuss the Fire Rescue Service. The first workshops for landowners will be held in the UBID Board Room on: Monday, July 16th from 1:00 to approx. 3:00 PM or Thursday, July 19th from 7:00 to approx. 9:00 PM. This is an opportunity for the community to have input into the Fire Rescue Service.
Space is limited so please call Ruth at 250-335-2511 to reserve your seat. The Board is hoping for good participation from the community so please plan to attend.

Who is CD Molstad?  Who is controlling TAG?  Who is controlling UBID?  Bennifer, Bradjalena, Darol or Cave?

Hiding in plain sight.

General Questions Regarding Union Bay

  • When the Firemen/first responders are called, do the ones who are smoking dope show up?  Who decides who is straight enough to respond?
  • Any drugs more powerful than weed being used?
  • Anyone ever ask the above questions before?
  • Why do elected officials believe if they vote on "X" everything is fine and their asses are covered even when they know they are doing wrong?   Why is this still happening?  No better way to run up a huge legal expense.  Does voting indemnify a particular section of the Criminal Code of Canada?
  • What type of documents do volunteer firemen sign when they join the department?  Have they ever refused someone or do they take anyone?
  •  A small boy told me last year at the Community Hall when the fire siren was heard, his dad wouldn't have to go because he was playing baseball.  How come he had one of the firetrucks with him if he wasn't going to respond?
  • Glad I use the instant teller to count my money.  Not sure if the employee only smokes at the park and/or outside work hours.
  • Is it a dirty little secret no one wants to talk about the firemen not being happy with the Chief?  Everyone has known for over a year now.
  • Do the firemen know how afraid the Board is of them?  They are a bigger problem than I ever was.  Someone thought they were going in and would 'clean things up'.  Well now there are more Board members involved - seems it wasn't as easy as first thought. Trying to manipulate the outcome and beef up their position by 'going to the community'.
  • Exactly what training do the first responders have?  Do they just barge in without asking if assistance is required?  Who exactly is in charge?  Having witnessed  the UB responders and then the ambulance attendants - I'll pass on what is dispatched under the guise of medical assistance and wait for the ambulance.   Do you want the local ghoul showing up in a hazmat suit when you're near death?

  • Why are relatives still being hired without anyone else having the opportunity to apply?  Jamie Barkley was reading the water meters with his  employee relative.
  • How is it that employees, firemen, etc., have vehicles to drive pretty well anywhere and no one cares?  I can't help but notice when a trustee with a business and company trucks, showed no concern for the cost to taxpayers or asked for log books, etc.  That company truck is never on the road unless it is specifically for that business.  Why the discrepancy  - didn't anyone care?  Does anyone care now?
  • TAG promised to run UBID as carefully as they would their own households, operating within a budget and cutting down costs.  Costs which TAG highlighted as a reason to vote them in comparing Deep Bay and Union Bay.  How close is UBID to meeting those promises?  The only difference from previous years is this Board managed to present proper Board meetings.  That is no longer the case with preferential treatment and rules applied based on supporter/nonsupporter status.  The video of the June 2012 is a perfect example.
Hey, don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with smoking.  Just curious how this is being managed by UBID, local businesses and wonder what the liability is.

After all, these are the people who are holding themselves up as an example to the rest of the community......right?  Every one of them as pure as the driven snow, always honest, truthful................just ask them, nothing they love more than telling you how wonderful they are.
